Patrick Hurinenko, 48, Dickinson, died on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 of natural causes at his home. Patrick’s Liturgy of Word will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Al Schwindt presiding. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Patrick Hurinenko was born March 30, 1977 in Dickinson, the son of Roger and Elizabeth “Betty” Ann (Hartman) Hurinenko. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, having graduated from Dickinson High School. He went on to attend Bismarck Junior College and Wahpeton State School of Science.

Throughout his life, Patrick worked for his dad, was a freelance journalist, independent publisher, and author.

He enjoyed cruising the internet, taking long walks in all seasons, reading and writing. He took drives to Medora where he enjoyed his visits with uncle George and aunt Irene Wolf. He often took little road trips while listening to country music (especially Johnny Cash).

Patrick’s mother always referred to him as “a big teddy bear” because of his nature which led him to having a special place in his heart for all furry animals.

Patrick is survived by his dad, Roger; sister, Jennifer Weixel, St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Daniel, Dickinson; nephews, Skylar, Preston, and Carter Weixel, all of St. Petersburg; and numerous other relatives.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Ann; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Oreo’s Animal Rescue.
