Patrick Redmond, 85, Belfield, died Friday, August 22, 2014 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Pat’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. William Ruelle as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Belfield. Military honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post 144. Visitation will be on Monday from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the church with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue on Tuesday one hour prior to services.

Pat was born August 25, 1928 north of Belfield, the son of Eugene and Rose (Volesky) Redmond. He was raised on a farm north of Belfield, and attended grade school and high school in Belfield.

At the age of 22 he was drafted into the United States Army, and spent two years during the Korean Conflict in the Artillery Division before being honorably discharged. He returned home and got his pilots license through the Dickinson Airport. He became a crop sprayer, and for the next 25 years this is what he did.

On July 2, 1960, he married Beverly Obritschkewitsch at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. They purchased a farm one mile east of Fryburg and raised their five children. He loved the country way of life. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, they were the joy of his life.

He was a member of the American Legion, served on the St. Bernard’s School and Church Board, and on the Medora Grazing Association Board.

Pat is survived by his wife, Beverly; their five children, Brenda (Joe) Floreen, Butte, Mont., Perry (Alicia) Redmond, Fairfield, Morey (Cindy) Redmond, Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Bradley (Stephanie) Redmond, West Fargo, and Rhonda (Bradley) Bauer, Union Center, S.D.; 16 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Jerry (Rose) Redmond, Belfield, Bill (JoAnn) Redmond, Bismarck, Tom (Jeanie) Redmond, Belfield, and Connie (Glenda) Redmond, Belfield; sister-in-law, Corrine Redmond, Tioga; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mag and Wainetta “Babs”; and brother, Jack.
