Paul Chruszch, 91, Belfield, died Saturday, May 14, 2016 at the Eastern Montana Veterans Home, Glendive, Mont. A Parastas for Paul will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Taras Miles presiding. Interment will follow at the St. John Catholic Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Belfield American Legion William C. Blair Post #144. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. There will be a rosary and time of sharing at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.
Paul Chruszch was born June 12, 1924 at Gorham, the son of John and Dokia (Baranko) Chruszch. He was raised on the family farm in Billings County. Paul joined the United States Navy during WWII and served honorably from 1944 to 1946.
Paul returned home and was united in marriage to Armella Gregory on June 5, 1947 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church at Ukraina. He and Armella farmed in Billings County until 1965 when they moved into Belfield where they operated an electrical contracting business as well as continued farming.
The Chruszch’s were founding members of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church. Paul served on the parish council for many terms and was also involved in the American Legion and the Knights of Columbus.
Paul was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. He is survived by his three children, Connie (Andy) Huschka, Cypress, Calif., Cheryl (Frank) Petykowski, Ostego, Minn., and Bob (Corrine) Chruszch, Belfield; five grandchildren, Melissa (Mark) Peterson, Clinton (Amy) Nameniuk, Caleb, Lane and Dokia Chruszch; five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Collin and Hailey Nameniuk, Maisey and Marshall Peterson; and one sister, Regina Kist. He was preceded in death by his wife, Armella on March 25, 2010; his parents; nine siblings; and two infant siblings.
