He was born December 7, 1963, to Don and Angie (Jaeger) Dire. Paul grew up and attended school in Dickinson. Paul has owned and operated the company, Nitro-Green, since April 1988.

Paul most liked to work with his hands. He could fix almost anything and always did a perfect job. He was continually ready and willing to use his talents and skills to help family and friends with projects. He enjoyed working on his cars with his best friend Todd, most specifically his 1974 VW Beetle convertible, which recently appeared in the November issue of Dune Buggies and Hot VWs. This car also took First in Class at the Valley Import Show in July 2015. Collecting antique oil signs and gas pump parts had become a new hobby for Paul, often traveling with his good friend Jody, who shared his passion. Paul loved his dog, Reggie, and they would often be seen together riding in his truck. He also loved being on the water and was an avid Green Bay Packers fan. Other hobbies included woodworking, yard work and gardening. Most of all though, anyone that knew Paul, knows how much he loved cleaning. He was a perfectionist, his yard had to be neat and clean, and his vehicles cleaner!

Paul is survived by his wife, Lee of Detroit Lakes, Minn.; stepdaughter Karissa; his father Don (Judy) Dire of Dickinson; brother Kregg (Michelle) Dire of Bismarck; sisters Dawnie (John) Sullivan of Minot, Jane (Bob) Milner of Dickinson; many nieces and nephews; and special friends Todd Sadowsky and Jody Arthaud. He was preceded in death by his mother Angie and nephew Myles Sullivan.
