Paulette Rose “Polly” Messer, 83, passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Services will be held in Spring 2026.

Paulette was born on February 16, 1942, in Dickinson, North Dakota, to Valentine and Katherine Koffler. The younger of two daughters, she was raised in Dickinson, attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and graduated from Central High School. She was awarded a scholarship for choir following her graduation.

In 1960, Paulette married the love of her life, Clarence Messer, and together they raised four children: Keith, Todd, Craig, and Valerie. The couple made their home on a farm in Carson, ND where Paulette devoted herself to caring for her family. She was a skilled homemaker who enjoyed baking, gardening, canning, and fishing—traditions she passed down to her children.

After their children were grown, Paulette and Clarence moved to Dickinson, where they owned and operated a mobile home business. They enjoyed traveling together, including a memorable trip to Germany in 1990, and cherished time spent with family at holidays, around the dinner table, and at their cabin on Lake Sacagawea.

Paulette deeply valued her family and took great pride in her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She faithfully kept family photographs displayed in her home and ensured that birthday cards were sent to each member of her growing family every year.

For the last 12 years of her life, Paulette resided in Colorado, where she was lovingly cared for by her family. She looked forward to regular visits, phone calls, and simple daily routines that brought her comfort and connection.

Paulette is survived by her children: Keith (Lavonne) Messer, Todd (Linda) Messer, and Valerie (Roger) Langston; her daughter-in-law Tara Messer; and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, including: Kayla (Jared) Guenther and their children Benny, Hadley, and Jensen “JJ”; Matthew Messer; Rachel (Robert) Carson and their children Sawyer, Harper, Quinn, Nathan, Randi, and Noah; Shelby Messer and her daughter Gracie Jo Forristall; Brad (Alexandra) Messer and their daughters Margot and Elsie; Steven (Chelby) Messer and their children Bentley, Savonne, and Hudson; Caitlin Messer; Tyler Messer; Alex (Yarenci) Messer and their son Santiago; Clay Dell; Dexter Dell; Dustin Dell; Colton (Kortney) Dell and their children Maze, Brooks, and Weslie.

She is also survived by numerous extended family members and close friends.

Paulette was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Messer; her son, Craig Messer; her son-in-law Ken Kiser; and several beloved members of the Messer and Koffler families.

Paulette will be remembered for her devotion to her family, her generosity, and the many traditions she created and lovingly upheld. Her legacy lives on through the generations who were shaped by her presence, care, and unwavering love.
