Pearl Ewoniuk, 96, Dickinson, passed away with family at her side on Saturday, December 26, 2020 at the Evergreen. Pearl’s Divine Liturgy will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 31, 2020 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, Fairfield, with Fr. Myroslav Dumych as celebrant and assisted by Deacon Leonard Kordonowy. Interment will follow at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Cemetery, Gorham. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a Rosary and Parastas at 6 p.m.

Pearl Haverluk was born June 10, 1924 at Gorham, the daughter of Mike and Mary (Dribnenki) Haverluk. She attended country school near the farm through the eighth grade.

Pearl was united in marriage to Matt Ewoniuk on October 19, 1941 at St. Josaphat’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Gorham. Together they had nine children. They left for Oregon in 1946 to find employment. The family returned to North Dakota in 1949 to help on the farm and ranch. In 1981 Matt and Pearl moved to a home seven miles north of Belfield, remaining there for 27 years. She moved to Hawks Point and then to the Evergreen in 2008 where she has lived since.

Her Lord, church and family were the most important and the center of her life, her prayer life was a priority. Pearl gave Ukrainian dance instructions and the highlight was an invitation to perform in Washington, D.C. She also did embroidery. Pearl cherished her family, was an avid sports fan, having followed her grandkids sporting events by attending or when not able to, listening on the radio. Pearl and Matt where inducted into the Ukrainian Hall of Fame and were Honorary Lifetime Members of the UCI. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Knock Poker, gardening, and cooking.

Pearl is survived by her children, Larry (Julia), Dickinson, Teresa (Roger), Bowman, Sylvester (Diane), Salt Lake City, Utah, Patricia, Dickinson, John (Shelly), Belfield, Matthew, Belfield, and Jeanette, Lefor; 26 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and three siblings, Margie Grosulak, Belfield, Josie (Shyposki) Thompson, Belfield and Joe Haverluk, Kennewick, Wash.. She is also survived by the wonderful staff and residents of the Evergreen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt on October 13, 1992; her parents; infant son, Augustine; son Freddy; grandson, Jeremy Buckman; and siblings, Sr. Severina, Sr. Filarette, Ella, Regina, Steve, Paul and William.

In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred for a memorial in memory of Pearl.
