Peggy Jeanne Gunwall, 82, formerly of Dickinson, died Tuesday, September 3, 2013 in Huron, S.D. Peggy’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. John Lutheran Church, Killdeer. Inurnment will follow at the Killdeer Cemetery.
Peggy Jeanne McIntyre was born March 7, 1931 in Santa Cruz, Calif. to Guy and Lillian (Gonsalves) McIntyre.
Peggy married Clarence Edward Gunwall on April 6, 1949 in Salinas, Calif. The couple moved to North Dakota where they raised a family of 10. Peggy worked for many years for the Baker Boy Bake Shop. In 1985, Peggy moved to Perham, Minn., where she discovered her passion for quilting while working at Bay Window Crafts.
Peggy was a talented quilter, making quilts for almost everyone in her extended family. She also enjoyed knitting, crocheting, needlepoint, cross-stitch and sewing. In her free time, Peggy was a devoted Gin Rummy player and enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Peggy is survived by her nine children, Cheryl (Ron Schwind) Wieglenda of Jamestown, Marcia (Ron) Haas of Warrenton, Va., Gilbert (Elaine) Gunwall of Dickinson, Reyne (Don) Westpahl of Mesa, Ariz., Guy Gunwall of Cohasset, Minn., Scott Gunwall of Dickinson, Jay (Susan) Gunwall of Detroit Lakes, Minn., Ronald (Nancy M.) Gunwall of Dickinson, Marie (Creighton) Bloodgood of Huron, S.D.; 18 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Gunwall; daughter, Clarissa Gunwall; grandson, Clarence Ray Gunwall; great-grandchildren, Isaac Joseph Gunwall and Jase Jeremiah Gunwall; and great-great-grandchild, Dresden James Stroh.
