Pete Johnston, 61, Dickinson, ND, died Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Triumph Hospital Central Dakotas, Mandan, ND. Pete’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, October 18, 2007 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Rev. Jerry Sevier officiating. Interment will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday and 8 a.m. to service time on Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Pete was born June 12, 1946 in Starnberg, Germany. He moved to the United States in 1955 with his parents, Leonard and Anneliese “Annie” (Katzsch) Johnston. They settled in Kadoka, SD, where Pete was raised and educated, graduating from Kadoka High School.

Pete worked at a variety of jobs in North Dakota and Montana prior to settling here in Dickinson. When he was younger in South Dakota he broke and trained horses, and as he got older he enjoyed working on old cars and became quite a handyman.

Pete is survived by two children, Pete (Marie) Johnston, Billings, MT, and Tracy (Shumon) Banerjee, Mesa, AZ; his mother and step-father, Annie and James Lemler, Dickinson; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard Johnston.
