Peter P. “Pete” Feininger, 80, Dickinson, died Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Health Center, Dickinson. Pete’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Friday, October 30, 2009 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church Dickinson, with Father Keith Streifel officiating, interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from noon until 6 pm, Thursday with a rosary and vigil at 6 pm Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Deacon Ralph Stockert presiding.

Peter Paul Feininger was born July 21, 1929 to Edward and Mary (Privratsky) Feininger at Dickinson. Pete attended school at St. Joseph’s Catholic Grade School and Dickinson High School. He married the love of his life, Mary Luptak on September 6, 1948 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. That same year Pete began a life time of work as an electrician. From 1951 until 1962 Pete was co-owner of S&F Electric in Dickinson and in 1962 he began his own business, Pete’s Electric, he retired in 1991.

As a master electrician, Pete enjoyed passing on his knowledge to others through teaching adult education classes at Dickinson High School, which included those who were at the SW District Correctional Center hoping that some would pursue a career in the electrical field. Pete’s experience and knowledge was passed down to two of his sons who both own their own businesses.

Pete was a member of the Electrical Contractor/Master Electricians of North Dakota, the Elks #1137, Odd Fellows, and the Knights of Columbus Club. In his spare time Pete enjoyed fishing, hunting, metal detecting, and playing cards. In later years having morning coffee with his many friends was something he looked forward to doing. Pete enjoyed teaching his hobbies to family and friends. Pete lived a full life, he worked hard and he played hard and was never without a joke or a good word to all he met along his way. He will be greatly missed.

Pete is survived by his wife, Mary; five children, Niles (Karen) Feininger, Francis (Kim) Feininger, Laura (Lee) Hutmacher, all of Dickinson, Marguerite “Mugs” Feininger St. Paul, Minn, and Nancy (Ron) Gunwall, Dickinson; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Ralph Feininger, San Bruno, Calif., and one sister, Eleanor Ertl, Rocklin, Calif.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Alphonse, two sisters, and three brothers. In lieu of flowers the requests that memorials be given to the American Diabetes Assn.
