Philip J. Urlacher, 82, Reeder, died peacefully on Thursday, August 3, 2023 at his home, surrounded by his family. Philip’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, New England with Fr. Dennis Schafer as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Helen’s Catholic Cemetery, South of New England. Visitation will be on Friday, August 18, 2023 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.
Philip J. Urlacher was born on October 18, 1940 in Hettinger County, the son of Philip P. and Otilia (Messer) Urlacher. He was raised on the farm and lived on one his entire life. Philip served honorably in the United States Army from October 30, 1963 to October 29, 1965. Philip was united in marriage to Clementine Olheiser on October 6, 1964 at St. Pius, Schefield. Together they had five children, Philip, Tina, Glenn, Renee and Brenda.
Farming and ranching was his life. He loved woodworking, creating things and even inventing things when he couldn’t find them. Welding was also another hobby of Philip’s. He also enjoyed spending time with the grandchildren. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus, St. Pius and was a member of the Kennedy Township Board.
Philip is survived by his wife, Clementine; children, Philip E. (Cathy Fox) Urlacher, Texas, Tina (Mike) Miller, ND, Glenn (Brenda Moos) Urlacher, Florida, Renee Urlacher, ND, and Brenda Urlacher, ND; 11 grandchildren; siblings, Maggie Kathrein, Ann Wert, Jeannie (Daniel) Zastoupil, and Jacob (Lynelle) Urlacher, all of ND.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip P. and Otilia Urlacher; sister, Marie Wolfe; and his brother, Mike Urlacher.
