Ralo H. Kuhl, DDS, 74, Dickinson died Sunday, June 1, 2008 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Ralo’s funeral service will be at 1 P.M., Thursday at Peace Lutheran Church, Dickinson with Rev. Steven Schou officiating. Interment will follow at the Dickinson Cemetery with military honors provided by the Veterans Drill Team. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday and from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Ralo Hugo Kuhl was born December 30, 1933 on the family farm near Sherwood, ND the son of Hugo and Belva (Knowlton) Kuhl. He graduated from Sherwood High School in 1952, attended Jamestown College from 1952 to 1955, and the University of Minnesota from 1955 to 1959, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree.

Ralo served in the United States Army Dental Corps based at Fort Lewis, Washington from 1959 to 1961. He married Naomi Stedham on April 8, 1960 in Billings, Mont.. He went into private practice in Towner from 1961 to 1962, Carrington from 1962 to 1972, and in Dickinson from 1972 to 2004.

Ralo was an active member of Dickinson, belonging to service clubs like the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club, and the Jaycees. He was active in Dental organizations and projects, recreational sports leagues, reading of and visiting historical places, such as, Native American and Civil War. He was active in his church and profession, staff and people, and especially cherished time spent with his family.

Ralo is survived by two children, Sonja (Perry) Kovash, Dickinson and Joel Kuhl, Fargo; three stepchildren, Earl (Colleen) Falk, San Antonio, Texas, Craig (Colleen) Stedham, St. Cloud, Minn., and Dennis Stedham, Colorado Springs, Colo.; three grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; one sister, Joy (Marty) Neilson, Seattle, Wash.; and one aunt, Doris Broden, Granville. He was preceded in death by his wife, Naomi on August 4, 2004; his grandparents; parents; brothers; and a stepson.
