Ramona Jung, 83, formerly of New England, died Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Western Horizon Care Center, Hettinger. Ramona’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, New England with Pastor Janel Kolar officiating. Interment will follow at the New England Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to service at the church on Tuesday.

Ramona Hjort was born February 8, 1926 in the Dickinson/New England area, the daughter of Willard and Susan (Strehlow) Hjort. She was raised and educated in New England having graduated from New England High School in 1944.

On October 17, 1944, Ramona married Peter Jung at the 1st Congregational Church, New England. Together they raised four children while living and farming south of New England. In the Fall of 1977, Pete and Mona retired and moved to New England. In July of 2004 Mona moved to Hillcrest Care Center in Hettinger where she resided until her death.

Ramona belonged to and was active in the 1st Congregational Church and the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, knitting, crocheting, Bridge Club, singing for various events, gardening and spending time with her family.

Ramona is survived by her four children, Patrick (Nanette) Jung, New England, Timothy (Ellie) Jung, Yuma, Ariz., Marcy (Ken) Decker, Dickinson and Becky (Jeff) Fields, Brownsburg, Ind.; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Rhoda (Dale) Gunderson, Wis.; and one brother, Dale Hjort, Calif. She was preceded in death by her husband, Pete on January 29, 2001; six brothers; and one sister-in-law, Anna Mae Hjort.
