Ray was born on August 7, 1939 to Casmir and Rose (Custer) Paluck, and was raised on the family farm south of Belfield. He attended rural grade school and graduated from Assumption Abbey High School in Richardton in 1956. He worked the next seven years on the farm with his dad. In 1963 he joined the National Guard with training at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and spent several years with the reserves.

Ray married Mary Ann Zins at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church, Raleigh on September 4, 1965. They moved to the family farm near Belfield in 1970 and raised their three children there.

Ray was a skilled farmer as well as an inventor, artist and author.  He was an avid reader of a range of topics and liked to discuss most subjects in a lively manner. He liked a variety of music and enjoyed singing in the church choir. Having a strong faith, he attended church regularly and served on the Parish Council.

Ray enjoyed his family as evidenced by his gathering them together each summer for an outing in the Black Hills. He treated his grandchildren specially and took pride in their accomplishments. He was a member of St. Bernard’s church and served as Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife Mary Ann; children David (Aileen) Paluck, Dickinson, Mark Paluck of Evergreen, Colo., Mary Jo (Cesar) Lopes, Bismarck; his grandchildren, Lexie, Daniel, Autumn, Courtney, Blake, Haley, Otavia, and Alea; his brother Fr. Casimir Paluck; and sister Bernie Jacobs.
