Raymond P. “Ray” Pflepsen, 99, Richardton, died Friday, December 1, 2017 at Richardton Health Center, Richardton, with family by his side. Raymond’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, December 6, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Richardton with Fr. Thomas Wordekemper, OSB as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Richardton. Visitation will be Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service with a rosary at 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church.
Raymond Pflepsen was born March 7, 1918 in rural stark county to Peter and Natalia (Marthe) Pflepsen. He was raised and educated in the Richardton/Taylor area. He was united in marriage to Catherine Feller on April 8, 1940 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Richardton.
Ray farmed on the original Pflepsen homestead until his retirement in 1979. He worked as a custodian for St. Mary’s in Richardton for five years. Ray was a honorary Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus member. He had many special interests including woodworking, carpentry, playing cards and working with the catholic youth organization.
Ray is survived by his children, Dennise Miller, Taylor, and Ernee (Doug) Walter, Dickinson; three grandchildren, Bryan (Carol) Miller, Lana (Mike) Baumgartner and Kelly (Jamie) Miller; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Catherine, on April 6, 1987; parents, Peter and Natalia Pflepsen; daughter, Joyce; and all of his siblings, Otillia, Elisabeth, Mildred, Eleanor, Jerome, Richard, Norbert, Edna, Gladys, Kenneth, and Donald.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be given to the St. Mary’s Cemetery Renovation project.
