Richard Charles Luedtke, 88, Dickinson, died Wednesday, June 18, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. Celebration of Life Service for Richard will be 10 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2019 at Ladbury Funeral Service with Pastor Lisa Lewton officiating. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military Flag Presentation will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Richard Charles Luedtke was born December 7, 1930 in Jamestown, the son of Arnold and Lillian (Harrington) Luedtke. He was raised and educated in Dawson, having graduated from Dawson High School. Following graduation he joined the Air Force where he served during the Korean Conflict. After leaving the service he went to work for the railroad where he worked until retirement.

Richard was united in marriage to Auriel Abbott on July 23, 1955 in Dawson. They lived throughout Montana, Washington and Grand Forks before settling in Dickinson for the remainder of his life.

He was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church and the American Legion. He loved working in his yard (which was beautiful), watching baseball and basketball. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family.

Richard is survived by his wife, Auriel, Dickinson; son, David (Susie) Luedtke, Bismarck; daughter-in-law, Heide Luedtke, Mandan; and son-in-law, Robert Boepple, Dickinson; six grandchildren, Nicole (BJ) Bullinger, Cara (Darrin) Schwind, Tara Luedtke, Chad Luedtke, Eric (Erin) Luedtke and Austin Boepple; and seven great-grandchildren, Bailey and Carson Bullinger, Kaycee, Dylynn, Madysen, Charley and Avery Schwind.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Charles; daughter, Sharon Boepple; and brother, John “Jack”.
