Richard L. Shinagle, 74, Dickinson, died Saturday, May 25, 2019 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson.

Richard’s Mass of Christian Burial will be 2 p.m., Thursday, May 30, 2019 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church with Msgr. Patrick Schumacher as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with a Rosary and Vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Bob Zent presiding.

Richard Lewis Shinagle was born June 23, 1944 at Minot, the son of Joseph and Mary (Meduna) Shinagle. He was raised and educated Dickinson and had graduated from Crosier Seminary at Onamia, Minn. He then attended Dickinson State College, Minot State College and UND where he graduated with honors with a Masters Degree in English and Literature.

He served Honorably in the United States Air Force, having been stationed in Korea. He spent his career as a teacher in various locations, most recently in the Denver, Colo. area. Following retirement, he returned to Dickinson to resume his activity in the family farm.

He loved gardening and growing flowers, spending time in nature and the companionship of his dogs.

Richard is survived by his siblings, Robert, Elsie, Gerald, Patricia and Bernadette; brother-in-law, Paul; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Mary Jane; and brother, Charles.
