Richard (Rick) A. Wallner May 26, 1956 - April 22, 2024

Date of Funeral

Tuesday, April 30, 2024

Richard “Rick” A. Wallner, 67, Dickinson, died Monday, April 22, 2024 with his family by his side at the Sanford Medical Center, Fargo. Rick’s Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Jerry Sevier as officiant. Visitation will be on Monday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Time of Sharing Stories and Memories at 7 p.m.

Richard A. “Rick” Wallner was born May 26, 1956 in Bismarck to Ervin and Dottie Wallner. He attended grade school and High School in Tappen.

Rick married the love of his life, Cindi Lewis on October 2, 1976 and to this union four children were born. Little did he know that his children, his grandchildren, and his great-grandchildren would be the light of his life.

In the early 80’s he worked in the oil field and then worked for FedEx delivering packages. It must have been the driving and delivery that he loved because he worked the last 24 years for the Bismarck Tribune and the Dickinson Press. He loved his job, and on his drives every night was where he came up with crazy ideas and inventions. We looked forward to Sunday dinners and family gatherings where he would share these ideas and of course a joke or two. He was remarkably witty and had an extraordinary sense of humor. There was no way you weren’t laughing, while in his presence. His faith and his belief in God were his foundation. He had a servant’s heart as he gave to many Christian Networks and Foundations. He always had a wise word and had prayed with more than one of us at some point in time when we were struggling with navigating life. He was like a compass sent from God trying to point his family in the right direction. Although the void left behind will be painful, we will navigate through life remembering all he taught us and most importantly knowing that God has a plan for all of us.

Rick is survived by his wife and best friend of 47 years, Cindi Wallner, Dickinson; daughter, Missy Calhoun, Dickinson; two sons, Eric Wallner and Ricky Wallner, both of Dickinson; grandchildren, Dylan Wallner, Daisia (Mason) Wilkinson, Dickinson, Aiden Wallner, Dickinson, and Bentley Steffl, New Salem; great-grandchildren, Lukas and Kamden Wilkinson; sisters, Debbie Pfaff, MS and Carla (Jim) Price, Jamestown; brother, Quinn, Tappen; brother-in-law, Roger (Carol) Lewis, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his son, Mitch Wallner, April 24, 2011; mother, Dottie Wallner; father, Ervin Wallner; step-mom, Phyllis Wallner; in-laws, Ella and Gerald Lewis.
