Robert S. “Bob” Buresh, 77, Manning passed away peacefully after a short battle with leukemia on Sunday, October 12, 2008 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Bismarck surrounded by his family. Bob’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 16, 2008 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Killdeer with Fr. Jerry Ruelle, OSB as the celebrant. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan on Friday at 10 a.m., MDT. Military honors will be provided by the Killdeer American Legion Ezra Barrows Post #46 following the mass. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. There will be NO VIEWING at the church on Thursday. There will be a rosary and vigil at 7:30 p.m., Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Bob was born August 24, 1931 in Dunn County of North Dakota to Frank N. and Rose (Steffan) Buresh. He attended Willman School, northwest of New Hradec and Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic School in New Hradec through the eighth grade. He farmed with his parents until he was drafted into the Army to fight in the Korean Conflict, February 1952. He was honorably discharged May 1953 and went back to the farm with his parents. He married Marge Petryszak, October 14, 1958 at St. Demetrius Ukrainian Catholic Church, rural Belfield. Bob worked for the Carter Oil Station and at Bosch Lumber Company in Dickinson. They then moved back to the family farm in 1959 where they have lived since. Bob was a member of the Eagle’s Club, the Killdeer Fire District, Farmers Union, and was a Eucharistic Minister at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Bob is survived by his wife, Marge; their children, Kathy (Vern) Tormaschy, Richardton, Jerry (special friend, Melody Bonn), Dickinson, Mike (Rachel), Manning, Joleen Forster, Dickinson, Connie (Dale) Aman, Dickinson, Ken, West Fargo, Robert A. (Jodi), West Fargo, and Kelly, Dickinson; 11 grandchildren, Toby, Jason and Kristy Tormaschy, Lexi and Alex Buresh, JennaLee Forster, Courtney, Logan and Landon Aman, Carson and Connor Buresh, and Melody’s daughters, Tasha and Megan Bonn; two brothers, John (Elaine), Towner and Bernard (Dorothy), Lincoln, Neb.; one sister, Marge (Don) Heiser, Woodbury, Minn.; brother-in-law, Roger Andres, Dickinson; sisters-in-law, Mary Ann Steffan, Dickinson and Rose (Robert T.) Lefor, Lefor; brother-in-law, Mike (Shari) Petryszak, Redmond, Wash.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Albert; sister, Darlene Andres; brother-in-law, Vincent Steffan; and niece, Joni Buresh.
Bob loved his cattle, enjoyed farming and ranching, riding his ATV with his dog, Rocky, playing cards, driving his JD tractors, playing solitaire, search word books, and being with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was always there for family and friends to go to for advice, to lend a helping hand or to offer a shoulder to lean on.
Bob was a true cowboy at heart!! We love you and will miss you dearly.
