Robert J. Wax, 77, Regent, died surrounded by his family at home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025. There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends on Monday, February 24, 2025 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary at 6:30 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson. Inurnment will take place at the Regent Cemetery at a later date.
Robert J. Wax was born September 17, 1947 in Dickinson, the son of Peter and Katherine (Keck) Wax. Robert was raised in rural Regent where he lived his entire life. He was educated at Cherry Butte School and Regent Public School. Robert went on to attend NDSCS in Wahpeton where he took up auto mechanics. He was also part of the National Guard.
Robert married Charlotte Mayer on June 27, 1970 and to this union three children were born, Steven, Stephanie and Scott.
Robert worked for the Regent Garage for a short period of time before he began farming and ranching. His love of farming and ranching was captivating and carried over to his children at a very young age. They enjoyed feeding the cattle, checking crops and riding in the tractor or combine with him. He was a hardworking, friendly, honest, patient and generous man with the softest, sweetest soul you could ever encounter. He was and forever will be a hero to his family.
He was a member of the Lefor Knights of Columbus and the American Legion Post #0273. Robert enjoyed fishing, playing cards, fixing things around the farm, being with family and friends, and going to Lake Tschida. Driving combine in the open field was one of his favorite pastimes which he loved even more after purchasing his “dream combine” a year prior to his retirement in 2022.
Few people knew Robert was diagnosed with cancer in 2012 as throughout the entirety of his battle he remained positive, strong and selfless.
Robert is survived by his wife of 54 years, Charlotte “Gussie” Wax, Regent; Stephanie Meduna, Dickinson, and Scott (Tiffanni) Wax, Dickinson; five grandchildren, Colby (Kim), Kaylee (Ely), Averie, Addison and Alivia; one great-grandchild, Journey; brother, Dennis (Connie) Wax, Regent.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Steven; son-in-law, Michael Meduna; sister, Marie Wax; in-laws, Frank G. and Ella Mayer.
