Robert William Petri, 97, Dickinson, formerly of Amidon, passed away on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 at Benedictine Living Center, Dickinson. Robert’ s Liturgy of Word will be at 10 a.m., Monday, August 11, 2025 at Ladbury Funeral Service with Fr. Dennis Schafer presiding.

Robert was born on May 23, 1928 in Hebron to Fred and Josephine (Kiltz) Petri. He was the third of seven children. He went to grade school in Hebron and went on to graduate from Belfield High School in 1947.

After graduation, he hauled salt water and drilling fluids in the oilfield near Tioga, until he was injured. He returned to the farm south of Belfield. Robert spent a winter at Armour Swift in Minneapolis, MN and several harvest seasons combining in North Dakota and in the South. He farmed and ranched near Amidon the rest of his life. Robert had a D6 9U Caterpillar that he used to clear roads. He was also an accomplished accordionist. 

Robert married Dorothy Buzalsky on March 30, 1960 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary during Covid.

Robert is survived by his daughter, Rebecca (Tracy) Kadrmas, Frenchtown, MT; son, Robert (Michelle) Petri, New England; six grandchildren, Derik (Lindsey) Kadrmas, Heather Kadrmas (Nathan Friese), Devin (Aleesha) Kadrmas, Gabriell (Drew) Hancock, Mason (Casey) Petri, and Caydon Petri; great-grandchildren, Fynn, Bodie, Milo, and one soon to be born; siblings, Agnes Owens, Magdalena Hayford, Ruth Daly, and James (Betty) Petri; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, on July 16, 2020; his parents; siblings, Betty (August) Wallery, Joseph (Catherine) Petri; in-laws, John Owens, Mike Hayford, and Roger Rau.
