Roberta Soland, 78, Dickinson, died Friday, November 25, 2011 at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Center, Dickinson. Roberta’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Brian Davidson officiating. Interment will follow at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, with the family present to greet and visit with friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

Roberta Lee was born July 29, 1933 to Melvin and Josephine (Matthews) Lee. She grew up in Westhope then moved to Bottineau. She attended Bottineau High School and played basketball. This is where she met Virgil. Roberta was united in marriage to Virgil A. Soland on July 29, 1951 in Fort Lewis, Wash. where Virgil served in the military. To this union four children were born: Tim, Greg, Lynette and Lori. After starting a family and leaving the service they moved back to Bottineau and became dairy farmers. When Virgil purchased a service station they moved into town (Bottineau). Roberta worked at the Lad and Lassie store. In 1968, Virgil and Roberta moved their family to Dickinson where Roberta did the bookkeeping for the Soland’s Standard Service Station. She also worked as a physical therapy aide and owned Body Toning.

Virgil and Roberta had many special memories traveling around in their motor home. Roberta and Virgil enjoyed their many years at the lake cabin with family and friends. She loved entertaining and playing cards. Roberta enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roberta is survived by her husband: Virgil Soland of Dickinson; two sons, Timothy Soland of Dickinson, Greg (Pam) Soland of Glendale, Ariz.; two daughters, Lynette (Gerald) Heidecker of Dickinson, Lori (Jim) Grosulak of Williston; two sisters, Marlene (Ollie) Reing and Debby (Bud) Stokes of Bottineau; two brothers, Clarence (Gail) Lee of Bottineau and Kevin (Debby) Lee of Eagle, Idaho; ten grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Josephine Lee; two brothers, Wardell (Bud) Lee, Stacy Lee and one sister, Burdell Young.
