Roger A. Fisher, 72, Dickinson, died Friday, February 16, 2018 at Dickinson. Roger’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Military honors will be provided by the Dickinson American Legion Post 3 Honor Guard. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services on Wednesday at the church.
Roger A. Fisher was born March 7, 1945 at Dickinson, the son of Albert and Anna (Faiman) Fisher. He was raised on the family farm and educated in Dickinson, having graduated from Dickinson High School in 1963. He joined the North Dakota National Guard on July 1, 1965 and served honorably until his discharge on June 30, 1971. Roger was united in marriage to Claudia Smith on January 31, 1966 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Halliday.
He farmed and ranched throughout his life north east of New Hradec until 2003 when he moved into Dickinson. Roger had a passion for camping, hunting and fishing with his family. He enjoyed visiting and going for coffee with his buddies. He loved retelling stories of past hunting and fishing adventures.
Roger is survived by his sons, Tom Fisher, Dickinson, and Will (Leah) Fisher, Gig Harbor, Wash.; sister-in-law, Kathy Fisher, Dickinson; brothers-in-law, Hank Grinsteinner, Dickinson, and Warren (Cheryl) Smith, Halliday; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Bernice Grinsteinner and Beverly (John) Schwindt; brother, Patrick Fisher; and brother-in-law, Patrick Smith.
