Roger L. Wollschlager, 75, Dickinson, died Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Benedictine Living Community, Dickinson. Roger’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 30, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Brandon Wolf as celebrant. Interment will take place at the St. Anthony of Padula Cemetery, Van Hook. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue at the church on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. There will be a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., on Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service with Deacon Ron Keller as presider.
Roger L. Wollschlager was born January 15, 1951 to Wilfred and Betty (Peterson) Wollschlager in Minot. He was raised and lived on a farm located on a peninsula on Lake Sakakawea, near Parshall and New Town. He attended grade school and high school in New Town.
Roger was a farmer at heart, very quiet, and softspoken in public settings. He enjoyed driving, riding horse, motorcycling and going to Assumption College where he attended from 1969-1971. It was during this time that he met his future wife, Mary Leintz. Both Roger and Mary went to Dickinson State College, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry and Math.
Roger and Mary were married November 24, 1973 at St. Gertrude’s Catholic Church in Raleigh. He taught school and drove bus for one year at Luverne High School When school was out in May, Roger and Mary moved to the Wollschlager farm for two months and then moved to Bowman. Roger taught 7th and 8th grade, high school Math and Science for four years. He went on to work as an electrician for Bob’s Oilfield Services in Rhame where Roger checked the producing wells for oil and water production. Roger and his family moved to Dickinson in 1980 to work in the oilfield. After being laid off, he went to work for Cenex, out of Belfield. He checked oil and water production on the wells north of Teddy Rosevelt National Park area. After a few more years, he was laid off and he bought the Service Master business, a residential and commercial cleaning business. He ran the business for 15 years until his back began giving him problems. He sold the business and had back surgery. After many months of healing and recovery, Roger decided to go to Long Distance Truck Driving School in Idaho. He drove for one year and then TMI offered Roger a truck driving job. Roger worked for TMI for many years until his retirement in 2015.
Roger is survived by his wife, Mary Wollschlager, Dickinson; sons, Kelly (Ariel Anderson) Wollschlager, Morro Bay, CA, and John (Carly) Wollschlager, Mandan; grandchildren, Austin (Lexie), Deklan, Vance, Jameson, and Lily Wollschlager; great-grandson, Hudson Wollschlager; siblings, Claudia (Tom) Schneider, Parshall, Gail (Gerald) Savage, Minneapolis, MN, Inez (Mike) Schneider, Rhame, Frank (Diane) Wollschlager, Arlington, TX, Amanda (Glen) Olson, Minot, Mark (Teresa) Wollschlager, Epworth, GA, and Kurt (Jackie) Wollschlager, New Town; step-siblings, Gary (Cheryl) Troite, Albany, OR, and Linda Troite, Sweet Home, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilfred and Betty; and Betty’s second husband, Leslie Troite.
