Roger Schwab was born October 21, 1952 in Richardton, the son of Frank and Bernice (Braun) Schwab. He attended school in Richardton, graduating in 1970. After graduation he continued his education at North Dakota School of Science in Wahpeton, where he received his Accounting and Business Management Associate of Science Degree.

In 1979, he moved back to Richardton after his dad had heart surgery, to help him with the family business, Schwab Oil Company. He truly enjoyed the business and he eventually took it over. He was know to always have suckers for all of the farm kids. He would pull into the yard and the kids would come running.

In 1998, Roger and Lenny Hueske with their wives bought the Elkhorn Bar, running it as a side business for a few years and then sold it. Roger enjoyed that time as the “PR” man, which Lenny and Anna nicknamed him.

After closing Schwab Oil Company in 2006, he went to work for Steier Oilfield Service where he was a pumper/flow tester until March 2017 when he had to retire due to heart surgery. The past couple of years he would help out at Stone Mill in Richardton, working a couple of hours a day.

In September 1980, he married Loretta Steffan, which they were blessed with a son, Tyson. On August 19, 1994, he married Anna (Cornelison) Stockie, adding two more sons, Brandon and Eric. He was proud of his three boys and enjoyed spending time with them.

Roger enjoyed playing pinochle, fishing, concerts, playing pool, Denver Broncos and traveling. In recent years as the grandchildren got older he found out he loved hockey. The grandkids had him wrapped around their little finger, he couldn’t tell them no. He loved to sit back, listen and watch his grandchildren.

He was a man of few words, gentle soul with a laid back attitude. He belonged to the KC Club and the Richardton Fire Dept. for 23 years.

Roger is survived by his wife, Anna, Richardton; three sons, Brandon (Kori) Stockie, Dickinson, Tyson (Melanie) Schwab, Mandan and Eric (Josie) Stockie, Bismarck; eight grandchildren, Ema, Easton, Ellie and Evan Stockie, Bristol and Rowan Schwab and Mila and Leni Rose Stockie; numerous nieces and nephews; siblings, Dennis Schwab, Aloha, Ore., Duane (Kathy) Schwab, Dickinson, Rita (Vince) DiTomaso, San Diego, Calif., Marjorie (Mark) Young, Klamath Fall, Ore., Joan (Jerry) Ternes, Bismarck, Steve (Charlotte) Schwab, Dickinson, Allan (Jeanne) Schwab, Aurora, Colo., Bryan (Wanda) Schwab, Aurora, Colo.
