Roger Vernon Pottorff, 87, Dickinson, died on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at CountryHouse Dickinson surrounded by his family. Roger’s Funeral Service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Janel Kolar officiating. Interment will take place at Dickinson Cemetery.
Roger Vernon Pottorff was born on November 5, 1936, in Valley City to Vernon “Bud” and Ardelle (Thiel) Pottorff. He graduated from Valley City High School.
Roger married Carol Lynch in 1955 and they had three children: Dale, Jane, and Renatta. In 1966, the family moved to Dickinson.
He went on to dedicate close to 50 years of his life to the construction industry at various companies including Meyer Construction in Dickinson, JTL in Belgrade, MT, and Fisher Industries in Spearfish, SD.
Roger found joy in playing cards, particularly Cribbage, and watching western movies in his leisure time.
Roger is survived by his wife, Carol; children, Dale (Renee), Dickinson, and Jane (Page) Myers, Medora; grandchildren, Dustin Pottorff, Sarita (Garrett) Schank, Jenilee (John) Hutzenbiler and Levi Myers; great-grandchildren, Juliette and Theodore Schank; step-great-grandchildren Ashely, Austin (Katie), and Amber Hutzenbiler; five step-great-great-grandchildren; sister, Barbara Bosanco; brother, Jack Pottorff; and sister-in-law, Helen Pottorff.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Renatta Pottorff; parents; step-father, Leonard Meyer; and brother, Donald Pottorff.
