Ronald Decker, 56, Belfield, died Friday, August 14, 2020 at his home south of Belfield, surrounded by his family. Ronald’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, 2020 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield, with Fr. Shane Campbell as the celebrant. Interment will follow at Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, Gaylord (south of Belfield). Visitation will be on Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Ronald Decker was born with his twin on May 22, 1964 in Dickinson, the son of Titius “Ted” and Marion (Stockert) Decker. He was raised on the family farm and educated in Belfield, graduating from Belfield High School in 1983.
He was a lifetime resident of the Belfield area. He took a shot at working the oil rigs, but returned to farming as soon as possible and has spent over 40 years working the farm incorporating modern farming practices. Ron had an exceptional talent in fabricating, fixing and troubleshooting everything electrical, mechanical and technical. He built a lot of his own parts. He could engineer and build just about anything.
He belonged to the Knights of Columbus having been named Knight of Year 2012. Ron was very instrumental in the Western Soil Conservation District having served as Chairperson. He enjoyed socializing, farming, snow sledding, fishing, shooting and hunting, and most everything outdoors.
Ronald – son, brother, uncle, friend, our neighbor, our helper, our supporter, our leader, and our cornerstone. He will be missed dearly!
Ronald is survived by his mother, Marion; siblings, Edward (Patty) Decker, Dickinson, Roger (Rosie) Decker, Belfield, Carmelita Dukart, Belfield, and Donald Decker, Belfield; numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dad, Titius.
