He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1971. Ron was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1972 and served honorably through 1974, where he served in Fulda, Germany. He was very proud of his time in the service.

Ron was united in marriage to Karen Krahler on July 7, 1979 in Fessenden. He worked for D & J Construction building steel buildings, worked in the oil fields and then began an 18 year career working at the Stark County Courthouse. Due to health reasons, Ron retired in 2013.

He was a homebody, where he loved to do yard work, carpentry, reading, playing games and cards with his kids, doing puzzles and teaching his boys how to do projects around the house. These past several years he was able to spend a lot of time with his family.

Ron is survived by his wife, Karen; sons, Jeremy (Jenny) Heidt, Chaska, Minn., and Jonathan (Kate), Mandan; granddaughter, Riley Margaret; and eagerly awaiting the arrival of his next grandchild; brother, Don (Jackie) Heidt, Dickinson; numerous nieces, nephews and his extended Krahler family.
