Rose S. Fischer-Paul, 76, Dickinson, died Thursday, October 22, 2009 at MedCenter One, Bismarck. Rose’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2009 at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Jeff Zwack as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a vigil at 7 p.m.
Rose S. Krivoruchka was born March 2, 1933 on the family farm north of Belfield in Billings County, the daughter of William and Anne (Evoniuk) Krivoruchka. She attended boarding school at St. Mary’s Villa Academy in Sloatsburg, N.Y., graduating in 1951.
Rose returned to the Belfield area and went to work for West Plains Electric for a couple of years. She married Ted Fischer on June 27, 1953 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield. Together they farmed and ranched south of Belfield until Ted’s death on June 19, 1986. During this time they raised Registered Hereford Cattle and small grains.
Rose moved to Dickinson in 1988 where she became a volunteer in both community and church activities. On October 14, 1995 she was united in marriage to Jim Paul at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. During her life she also was a 4-H Leader, enjoyed bowling, teaching CCD classes, cooking, reading, traveling and playing cards. Her Ukrainian culture was important to her. Rose loved spending time with her grandchildren and staying very physically active.
Rose is survived by her husband, Jim; five daughters, Jackie (Sam) Buckley, Mandan, Nancy Newell, Cincinnati, Ohio, Paula (Gregg) Kostelecky, Arvada, Colo., Tama (Rollie) Baumgarten, Belfield, and Linda (Paul) Miller, Billings, Mont.; 11 grandchildren, Jack and Jerry Buckley, Codi (Derek) Schatz, Amy (Jared) Mintz, Nicole Kostelecky, Kalli Kostelecky, Abby Jo Kostelecky, Melissa Kostelecky, April and Jake Baumgarten, and Alysha Fischer; two great-grandchildren, Lilly and Brayden Schatz; five step-children, Leon Paul, Renee (Tim) Jahner, Ken Paul, Rhonda (Terry) Urlacher, and Kathy (Jason) Scalen; three sisters, Gertie Kennedy, Littleton, Colo., Yvonne (Arlys) Hanson, Sterling, Colo., and MaryAnn Hanson, Belfield; one brother, Ted (Bernice) Krivoruchka, Springfield, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted; her parents; one sister, Frances Plank; and one brother, Victor.
