RoseMarie Andreas, 88, Belfield, died on Wednesday, October 26, 2022 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson. RoseMarie’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield. Interment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday.

RoseMarie Walter was born on August 25, 1934, on the family’s farm north of Dickinson to Joseph and Anna (Hutmacher) Walter. She attended boarding school at St. Patrick’s in Dickinson until the family moved to Billings County. She then went to school in Fryburg until leaving school to work and help support her family.

RoseMarie met George Andreas while working in Belfield. They were married at St John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church on November 13, 1956. They moved to the Andreas family farm in Fryburg Township where they raised four children.

Once all the children were in school, RoseMarie went to work at the Hugelen’s Truck Stop and Cafe, then Trappers Kettle, then TRMF in Medora. In the early 1990s, she started her own housekeeping business which she worked at until she retired in her late 70’s.

RoseMarie enjoyed traveling, quilting, embroidery, crafting and playing pinochle, and was known for her beautiful flower beds and gardens and her caramel rolls. She belonged to various clubs and civic organizations throughout her life, and was a life member of the William C. Blair American Legion Auxiliary.

RoseMarie contracted covid-19 in November 2020. The disease was devastating to her health, but after an extended hospital then nursing home stay, she was able to return to her home until she got pneumonia in the spring of 2022. Because of the enduring health effects from covid, she wasn’t able to recover her strength to go home again, and was living at St Benedict’s Health Center. The family would like to thank the staff of St. Benedict’s for their care of our mother, and the staff at CHI St. Alexius Hospital in Dickinson for their compassionate care in her final days. We are also eternally grateful to Father Shane Campbell and Pastor Dawn Busch for the comfort and friendship they offered her, especially after our dad passed away in October of 2020 through the time of her passing, and to all of her family and friends who visited and called or wrote notes to encourage her.

She is survived by her son, Ben Andreas, Sturgis, SD; and daughters, Carmen Waldo, Belfield, Mary Jane (Jimmy) Anderson, Fryburg Township, and Melanie Andreas, Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Levi (Kiley) Andreas, Minot, Derek (Angie) Andreas, Alexander, Natasha Andreas, Cordele, GA, Michael Wang, Willow Springs, MO, Anna Ross, Belfield, Vinson Waldo, Riverview, FL, Madeline (Phillip) Layton, Belfield, Jacob (Rachel) Waldo, South Heart, Casey (Lindsey) Briscoe, Denmark, and Dillon Andreas, Bismarck; and 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Monica Hushka, Dickinson, Hildegaard (Tom) Rothe, Englewood, CO, Mary Ann Martin, Concord, MI; and brother, Leo (Rose Mary) Walter, Floresville, TX; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Walter, Apache Junction, AZ; and numerous nieces and nephews.
