Russell E. Sandaker, 89, Belfield, died on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at Benedictine Living Center, Dickinson. Russell’s Celebration of Life will be at 11 a.m., Friday, October 25, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Rev. Dawn Busch officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Belfield Lutheran Cemetery, Belfield.

Russell E. Sandaker was born March 23, 1935 in Williston, the son of Hans and Evelyn (Logan) Sandaker. He was raised and educated in Williston. 

Russell was united in marriage to Robin Whitty on November 3, 1958 in Froid, MT and to this union three children were born, James, Christine, and Dean.

Russell and Robin moved to Minot where he worked as a fireman for Burlington Northern for five years and then as an operating engineer for 28 years. They moved to Minnesota where they lived for the next 38 years and he had worked for Barbarosa for 18 of those years. In 2000 they relocated to Belfield and while in Belfield he worked at Belfield Hardware, Dan’s Conoco, Trappers Kettle and also the convenience store in Medora.

He belonged to the 49ers Union and TOPS. He loved to go fishing and had belonged to a vintage car club in Alexandria, MN.

Russell is survived by his wife, Robin; children, James Sandaker, Ortonville, MN, Christine Perrin, Belfield, and Dean (Judy) Sandaker, Ft. Walton Beach, FL; 12 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Conrad and George.
