Ryan S. Murphy, 42, Katy, Texas, formerly of Dickinson, died Saturday, August 8, 2015 in Texas. Ryan’s Liturgy of Word Service will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2015 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, with Deacon Kris Ringwall presiding.

Ryan Scott Murphy was born April 26, 1973 at Dickinson, the son of Bill and Eleanor (Schwindt) Murphy Jr. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1991. He went on to attend UND in Grand Forks, earning a degree in Chemical Engineering. Ryan has spent most of his working life with Shell Oil in Houston, Texas, as Chemical Engineer. He belonged to several professional organizations.

He was united in marriage to Renae Harmsen on November 18, 2004 in Waimanalo Bay, Hawaii. He was a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do and trained at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado. He was a long time Vikings fan and coached many games from his couch. Ryan loved spending time with his daughters, reading, swimming, and decorating for Halloween. Ryan had a fondness for cats and rescued many over the years.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Renae; two daughters, Isabel (11) and Eliza (7) Murphy; his mother, Eleanor Murphy, Dickinson; and three siblings, Carol (Bill) Petersen, Middle River, Minn., Bill (Joan) Murphy, Dickinson, and Tom (Amy) Murphy, Eden Prairie, Minn. He was preceded in death by his dad, Bill.
