Shirley D. Svihl, 75, Dickinson, died Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at home surrounded by her family. Shirley’s Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 at St. John Evan. Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Joe Natwick officiating. Inurnment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. There will be a prayer service at 7 p.m., Tuesday at Ladbury Funeral Service

Shirley D. Krug was born on the family farm south of Richardton, on October 23, 1941, to Peter J. and Anna (Alpert) Krug. She attended elementary school in the Havelock community and continued her education in Hebron.

On July 18, 1964, Shirley married Gordon A. Svihl. The couple lived in Dickinson all these years while Shirley worked in restaurants, waitressing and cooking throughout the years. She was later employed by the Dickinson Cheese Plant for many years.

Shirley was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church. She loved fishing, playing bingo, listening to Molly B. Polka Music, baking her famous dinner plate size caramel rolls! And spending time with her family, friends and her dog “Lily”.

Shirley is survived by her husband, Gordon, Dickinson; children, Shirley L. “Sood” Deichert, Dickinson, Jeanne A. Svihl, Valrico, Fla., Curtis G. Svihl, Bismarck, and Tina M. Svihl, Dickinson; four grandchildren, Nicole Deichert, Lisa (Mack) Elmer, Levi Decker and Andrew Svihl; four great-grandchildren, Robert Deichert, Lennox and Cohen Elmer and Emersyn Decker; two step-grandchildren, Marty Harper and Sierra Lindstrom; siblings, Pete (Fumiko) Krug, Dickinson, Caroline (Jerome) Dukart, Dickinson, Agnes (Henry) Weiler, Dickinson, Eileen (Lester) Deitz, Pierce, Idaho, Anna (Leonard) Marszalek, Chicago, Ill.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her sister, Lorene Messer; brother, Frank Krug, and an infant brother, Lloyd; parents, son-in-law, Francis “Sam” Deichert.
