Shirley Paulson, 70, Dickinson, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. Shirley’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Brian Davidson officiating. Interment will take place at our Savior’s Cemetery, north of Halliday. Visitation will be on Friday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Shirley Ann Erdmann was born December 18, 1942 at Golden Valley, the daughter of Sam and Dorothy (Bauer) Erdmann. She was raised and educated in the Halliday area, having graduated from Halliday High School in 1961. She later in her life attended Dickinson State College and earned a BA Degree in Business Administration.
She married Norbert Martin on July 27, 1962 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Halliday, and to this union two children, Susan and Glenn were born. Throughout Shirley’s life she worked as a bookkeeper at various businesses.
Shirley was united in marriage to Kenneth Paulson on January 9, 1993 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Dickinson. They lived in Wyoming for a period of time prior to returning to North Dakota in 1998. She had belonged to the Red Hat Society, and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time with her coffee buddies. Her greatest pleasure came from being with grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by her husband Kenneth; two children, Susan (Bruce) Haider, Dickinson and Glenn (Sheila) Martin, Dickinson; seven grandchildren, Eric Martin, Sydney Martin, Austin Haider, Alyssa Haider, Annie Haider, Bobby Haider and Chris Haider; three sisters, Marlene (Duane) Vastag, Mandan, Sandy (Gary) Stern, Halliday, and Arliene (Gerald) Scheurer, Golden Valley; brother-in-law, Wally (Bev) Paulson, Lolo, Mont.; four step-children, Rodney Paulson, Billings, Mont., Kenda Paulson, Bismarck, Lori Berger, Bismarck, and Tim (Sally) Paulson, Bismarck; 12 step-grandchildren; and 13 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant sister, Darlene; and her mother and father-in-law.
