Terrence “Terry” M. Wanner, 72, Dickinson, died on Saturday, June 29, 2024 at Highgate, Billings, MT. There will be a rosary & time of sharing at 10 a.m., Friday July 5, 2024, at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson followed by a Liturgy of Word Service at 10:30 a.m. with Deacon Ross Reiter presiding. Inurnment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson.
Terry was born September 29, 1951, in Dickinson to Paul and Edith (Jirges) Wanner. He was the fourth of nine children that were raised on the family farm west of New England. Terry graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1969. His education continued at NDSCS in Autobody, and his career moved him to MT where he worked as a technician. In 1973, he worked for Berger Cattle, then moved to Sidney, MT to work as a heavy equipment operator for Morlock Construction building oil well sites.
In 1974, Terry married Shelly Berger and they had three children Tiki, Levi, and Cozette. He started working for Cenex in Laurel, MT and later moved to Minot, ND where he worked for CHS. He drove semi for 28 years and upon his retirement he moved to Dickinson, where he lived until his death.
Being from a large family, Terry was always the life of the party. He was well known for the Wanner Wave, elbowing, pinching and his love for Family Picnics. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to his brother, Dale, on the farm or you could find him helping at his sister Pauly’s farm. Terry was a great parts runner and during his retirement he loved fishing. He enjoyed the trips to see his kids and grandkids and FaceTime calls with his sisters. As a Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Poncho, World Famous Uncle Terry, Papa Smurf, and friend; he will be missed by many.
Terry is survived by his three children, Tiki (John) Kominsky, Levi (Joslyn) Wanner, and Cozette Wanner, all of Billings, MT; five grandchildren, Jaxon, Eric, Tyler, Cameron and Brady; siblings, Harvey (Jean) Wanner, New Hradec, Marrietta (Don) Nygaard, Bismarck, Dale Wanner, New England, Jackie (Ray) Kraft, Dickinson, Pauly Krebs, New England and Janel (Bryan) Schiele, Minot; in-laws, Jim Fogarty, Belle Plaine, MN and Sheila Wanner, New England; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Edith Wanner; grandparents, John P. and Ottila Wanner, Fred and Mary Jirges; one infant brother, Joseph; siblings and in-laws, Duane Wanner, Debbie Fogarty, and Jim Krebs.
