Theodore Robert Kostelnak “Bob”, 92, formerly of the Killdeer area, died Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at CHI St. Alexius, Dickinson. Bob’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, July 11, 2016 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Michael Wolters officiating. Interment will take place at the Killdeer Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Killdeer American Legion Ezra Barrows Post 46, following the burial. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church on Monday.

Theodore Robert Kostelnak was born October 4, 1923 on the family farm in rural Dunn County, the son of Teofil and Bernice (Fala) Kostelnak. He was raised and educated in Dunn County, having attended country school near the home. Bob joined the United States Army and served honorably from April 27, 1945 to January 9, 1947.

Bob returned to the Killdeer area and began his years of farming and ranching. He was united in marriage to Florence Miller on November 14, 1952 and together they spent their lifetime farming and ranching west of Killdeer. They also established and operated the Knife River Trading Post in Manning from 1985 until the spring of 1994. In November of 2005 they moved into Dickinson and resided at Park Avenue Villa. While in Dickinson they were members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. Florence passed away on Monday, January 31, 2011.

Bob was a member of the Killdeer American Legion. His life was centered around farming, ranching, and spending time with his family. He will always be remembered as a kind, generous and loving man who loved to visit. Bob was a faithful steward of the land.

Bob is survived by his daughters, Zola (Jerry) Dasinger, Maple Grove, Minn., and Renae (Greg) Schneider, Killdeer; grandchildren, Holly Dasinger, Raelene (Wayne) Moe, Britnee (George) Morteo, and Dawn Schneider (Grandon’s wife); great-grandchildren, Dawson Schneider, Jude and Ella Morteo; sister, Loretta Klatt, Killdeer; sister-in-law, Cleo Kulish, Dickinson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence; grandson, Grandon Schneider on March 25, 2012; parents; and siblings and their spouses, Mary (Andrew) Kulish, Elsie (Jim) Ramsey, Laura (Steve) Jilek, Leo Klatt, and Leonard (Pauline) Kostelnak.
