Tobias V. “Toby” Messer, 40, Dickinson, died Saturday, March 5, 2016 at CHI St. Joseph’s Hospital, Dickinson. Toby’s funeral service will be at 1 p.m., Friday, March 11, 2016 at River of Life Church International, Dickinson, with Pastor James Hessler and Pastor Joe Stefalo officiating. Entombment will follow at the Dickinson Mausoleum. Visitation will be on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue on Friday one hour prior to services at the church. The family will be present at Ladbury Funeral Service on Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to greet family & friends, with a time of sharing stories and memories at 7 p.m.

Tobias Valentine Messer was born May 30, 1975 at Dickinson, the son of Raymond and Marilyn (Frenzel) Messer, Sr. He was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School. Following high school he began a life long career in the oil fields, most recently working for Savanna Well Service.

Toby was united in marriage to Sheri Weflen on April 20, 2002 at Dickinson. To this union three children were born, Kacy, Alisza and Brody. They have made Dickinson their home.

He was an avid biker and together they attended Sturgis every year. He also enjoyed playing darts, and poker.

Toby is survived by his wife, Sheri; their three children, Kacy, Alisza and Brody; his eight siblings, Marilyn Kenly, Elgin, Texas, Candice Messer, Elgin, Texas, Michelle (Vern) Howard, Lewistown, Mont., DeAnne Messer, Gladstone, Kim Krug, Dickinson, Wendy Messer, Dickinson, Melissa (Jerrod) Warner, Dickinson, and Jessica Messer, Dickinson; his grandma, Eugenia Messer; numerous nieces and nephews; his in-laws, Jim and Cindy Flohr, Dickinson; and two brothers-in-law, Shannon (Mary) Weflen, and Michael (Amanda) Flohr. He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Lorene Messer; brother, Ray “Sonny” Messer, Jr.; and sisters, Annette Messer and Belinda Messer.
