Verlene Bennett, 81, Dickinson, died Monday, November 19, 2012 at her home. Verlene’s funeral service will be at 11 a.m., Friday, November 23, 2012 at Ladbury Funeral Service, with Pastor Jerry Sevier officiating. Interment will follow at the Medora Cemetery, Medora. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at Ladbury Funeral Service.

Ruth Verlene Lee was born June 26, 1931 in Lawton, Okla., the daughter of Alfred Vesper Lee and Mary Edna (Fielder) Lee. She was raised and attended schools in the Lawton area.

Verlene married Richard A. Bennett on September 8, 1948 in Lawton. Verlene was a housewife when they lived in Lawton, Snyder, Texas, Kermit, Texas, Big Bend National Park, Texas, Devils Tower, Wyo., and finally to Medora and Dickinson. She also worked various clerking jobs until she began working for FmHA in Medora and then in Dickinson. In her spare time she loved to read, crochet, play computer games, and email. Verlene really loved her family and her grand dog, Riley.

Verlene is survived by her children, Rick (Gayle) Bennett, Lena, Miss., and Karen (Keith) Wolf, Gladstone; three grandchildren, Eric Bennett, Pelahatchie, Miss., Wendy (Jack) Bennett, Pelahatchie, Miss., and Kassidy (James) Fields, Dickinson; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; a daughter, Susie; an infant grandson; an infant great-granddaughter; and her brother, R.D. Lee.
