On December 16, 2025, the Lord extended His hand and welcomed our beloved Victoria “Kiki” Haich into His presence, finally giving her much deserved peace. Victoria’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2025 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Joseph Evinger as celebrant. Entombment will take place at the Dickinson Mausoleum.  Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a Rosary and Vigil at 6 p.m. with Deacon Ron Keller as presider. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Monday.

Kiki was born on May 24, 1958 to Roy and Ann (Kanski) Basaraba. After graduating from Belfield High School, Kiki attended college and worked extremely hard her entire life. Often working several jobs at a time, including waitressing, many paper routes, residential and business cleaning. While waitressing at Mr. Steak, Kiki joked that she should find a husband so that she wouldn’t have to work so hard. She soon met Jeff Haich, a hardworking auto mechanic and farmer. They were married two years later. She continued to work hard to keep up with him, especially after their daughters started school.

Kiki’s life was defined by love. Many were drawn to her through the deep love and empathy she had for everyone she met. Always thinking of others before herself, she connected easily with people, always wanting others to feel seen, heard, and valued. One reason she loved her paper routes was so that she could pray for the people she was delivering to everyday. Kiki had a deep love and devotion to the Catholic faith. She attended daily Mass and had at least one adoration time a day, often filling in for others. She had a deep devotion for the rosary, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, and the St. Michael prayer. She found great comfort in the saints as well, especially through St. Margaret Costello. This love was only rivaled by her love for her family. Kiki enjoyed spending time with her husband and daughters, son-in-law, and doted upon her granddaughter, Moira. She always made time for her nieces and nephews, ensuring they knew they were loved. Kiki was also known for her sense of humor, her pranks, and her joy. At weddings, she was often the first on the dance floor. She taught her daughters how to pull pranks, including short sheeting beds. She loved to laugh and joke around, often choosing to play games with the kids at family gatherings.

Kiki always enjoyed crafting and baking, often doing projects with her daughters. She especially found great joy in crocheting, making anything from blankets to Barbie clothes. She later found peace and purpose in crocheting prayer shawls for Dickinson and Bismarck hospice. She found a beautiful pattern that included butterflies, later learning it is the symbol of life and hope. Kiki created thousands of prayer shawls that brought peace to hospice and cancer patients. She often made special prayer shawls for people she knew. 12 of the prayer shawls she made were blessed and sent to Međugorje, a point of great pride and joy for her. Kiki loved animals as well, always caring for God’s creatures. She fed and cared for homeless cats in addition to her own rescues. She made peanut butter sandwiches for the squirrels, ensuring to use crunchy peanut butter since that was their favorite. They would even tap at the door to let her know they were waiting. Kiki also made sure all the birds were fed, sometimes having up to 10 blue jays waiting for her each morning.

Kiki Haich is survived by her husband, Jeff; daughters and son-in-law: Dokia (Ryan) McEwan and Deidra Haich; granddaughter, Moira; siblings: Teresa (Anthony) Kessel of Belfield, Donald (Carol) Basaraba of Fairfield, Bernadette Basaraba of LaPorte, CO, Stephanie Klym of Belfield, Patricia (Gary) Malkowski of Dickinson, Yvonne (Jason) Wock of Mud Butte, SD, Kathy Jo (Wayne) Cline of Beulah, Roy M. Basaraba of Beulah; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Ann Basaraba; in-laws, Felix and Mary Haich; brothers-in-law Roger Klym, Jerald Haich; sister-in-law Juanita (Haich) Yaeger; numerous family members and loved ones.

While her absence will be felt by many for the rest of their lives, Kiki has encouraged us all to keep living a life full of joy, humor, faith, and care. She is now at peace in the arms of her Savior. Kiki’s love will always be present in the hearts of those she left behind.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Patrick’s Legacy fund or a pet rescue of your choice; or buy a bird feeder and feed the birds in your area.  All of these were important to Kiki and would honor her memory.
