Viola “Vi” Curn, 93, Dickinson, died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at St. Benedict’s Health Center, Dickinson. Vi’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, October 15, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Inurnment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., Friday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Viola M. Huncovsky was born April 17, 1918 in Dickinson, the daughter of John and Caroline (Suchy) Huncovsky. She was raised and educated in Dickinson and graduated from Dickinson High School. Following graduation she lived in Dickinson until moving to San Francisco where she worked at the Drake Hotel.
Viola married Robert F. “Bob” Curn on May 13, 1940 in King City, Calif. They moved to Dallas/Fort Worth where she worked at the Fort Worth Airport. She then returned to Dickinson with her husband to raise their family. In Dickinson she was employed at St. Patrick’s School for 20 years. She was a lifetime member of the Catholic Daughters.
Vi is survived by three sons, Ted (Judith) Curn, Olathe, Kan., Barry (Suzanne) Curn, Kennewick, Wash., and Robert A. (Germaine) Curn, Dickinson; six grandchildren, Debra Curn, Chad Curn, Travis Curn, Christopher Curn, Aaron Curn and Michael Curn; three great-grandchildren, Abbagail Curn, Rylie Curn and Rowan Curn; and one sister-in-law, Josephine Huncovsky, Dickinson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob, on November 16, 2008; her parents; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, William (Mary) Huncovsky, Charles (Gladys) Huncovsky, Alfred (Dora) Huncovsky, and Donald Huncovsky. In lieu of flowers the family prefers memorials to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.
