Vivian Irene Elkins, 93, Taylor, died on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Richardton Health Center. Vivian’s Funeral Service will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Taylor Lutheran Church with Pastor Chuck Loftis as officiant. Interment will follow at Pioneer Cemetery, Taylor. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.

Vivian was born May 22, 1931 at the Richardton Hospital, the daughter of Clarence F. and Harriet J. (Quam) Wahlers. She was raised on a farm at Antelope and spent eight years attending country school. She graduated from Taylor High School and then earned her teaching certificate from Dickinson State Teacher’s College. She taught at two rural schools near Taylor. On July 29, 1950 Vivian was united in marriage to Elmo Elkins at the Taylor Lutheran Church. She and Elmo spent the first 48 years of their marriage on a farm south of Taylor and then moved into town in 1998.

Later in life, Vivian worked at Walmart for nine years. She was a member of the Taylor Lutheran Church and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and participating actively in women’s church groups.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Elmo; an infant son; daughter, Naomi; grandson, Seth; brother Daniel; and sister, Elizabeth.

Vivian is survived by her sons, Kenneth (Rebecca) Elkins and Keith (Mariane) Elkins, both of Taylor; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, Stacy Braun and daughter Danika, Dickinson; Tyler (Kacy) Elkins and their children, Bode and Kaisa, Richardton; Shane (Camila) Elkins and their children, Michael and Kyle, Taylor; Dustin (Mandy) Elkins and their children, Bailey, Sydney, and Carley, Richardton; Beth (Jarrod) Simek and their children, Annabelle and Gavin, Ghana, Africa; and Brandon Elkins and his children, Timber, Morgan, and Reagan, Gillette, WY; and her sisters, Janice (Paige) Wahlers, South Dakota, and Cheryl (Ed) Keenan, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Bismarck Cancer Center, 500 N 8th St, Bismarck, ND 58501, or to Taylor Lutheran Church, PO Box 218, Taylor, ND 58656.
