William “Bill” Andriash, 82, Dickinson died Sunday, May 31, 2009 at his home. William’s funeral service will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Fr. Taras Miles presiding. Inurnment will take place at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan. Military honors will be provided by the Dickinson Honor Team following the service. Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to service time on Wednesday at Ladbury Funeral Service.

William was born December 5, 1926 at Ukrainia in Billings County of North Dakota, the son of John and Alice (Rychkun) Andriash. Entering the first grade he was unable to speak or to write English. He was raised and educated north of Belfield. William served honorably in the United States Army during WWII and also the Korean Conflict.

William married Elizabeth “Betty” Jakubowsky on November 12, 1953 in Belfield and they farmed north of Belfield. William moved into Dickinson in 1970 and worked for Kolling Construction. He belonged to the AmVets, and American Legion. When ever possible he enjoyed fishing, gardening, and kite flying.

William is survived by seven children, Beverly (Ed) Lindsay, Scobey, Mont., Barbara (Chip) Shaw, Cincinnati, Ohio, BJ Rummel, Dickinson, Bill J. Andriash, Portland, Ore., Bernie Andriash, Oak Creek, Colo., Bruce Andriash, Porterville, Calif., and Bernardine (Russ) Alpert, Detroit Lakes, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, Abbie and Allie; and three sisters, Sophie Dorsett, Billings, Mont., Mary Patrikus, Cottonwood, Minn., and Arlene Pritchard, Gresham, Ore. He was preceded in death by his parents; his son, Bob Andriash; sisters, Ann Syminow and Eileen Benhardus; brothers, Matt Andriash and Mike Andreas; and also Betty Andriash.
