William “Bill” Dowell, 80, Dickinson, died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at his home with family at his side. There will be a memorial gathering and sharing of memories from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Ladbury Funeral Service, on Saturday, October 29, 2016. Inurnment will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Dickinson at a later time.
William Roy Dowell was born July 15, 1936 in Dunn County of North Dakota, the son of Roy and Sophia (Haag) Dowell. He was raised and educated in Dickinson. Bill served honorably in the United States Army and the North Dakota National Guard.
Bill was united in marriage to Patricia Frenzel on October 15, 1960 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Dickinson. They made their home in Dickinson where he first worked for Heaton Lumber and then for over 50 years was owner and operator of Queen City Electric. In his spare time he enjoyed a game of golf and going for coffee with Jerry.
Bill is survived by his wife, Pat; their four children, Jodi (Bob) Cuskelly, Manning, Cyndi (Tracy) Olson, Wahpeton, Laura Poling, Fargo, and Mark (Cherie) Dowell, Fargo; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his brother, Jim (Marilyn) Dowell, Springfield, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two sisters.
