Williamson Peter Chitiyo, 71, of Dickinson, N.D., originally from Harare Zimbabwe, succumbed to cancer at St. Benedict Health Center, Dickinson with his loving wife by his side on July 24th, 2019.

Williamson is survived by his wife Kuziwa of 42 years, sons Nyasha, Hillary and Neville, daughters Lynn and Tariro, daughters-in-love Daphne and Glenda, grandsons Joshua, Blessing, Tumelo and Malachi, granddaughters Izwirashe and Anaiah, brother Christopher and sisters Josephine, Loveness, Margaret and Patience and many loving nieces, nephews, sisters & brothers-in-law and extended family. Williamson was a loving father, husband, grandfather “Kulu” and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Alice, and his siblings Florence, Honor, Colious and Everjoice.

Williamson loved singing and sang in the Trinity Methodist Church choir for several years in Harare. He worked as an educator and headmaster for over 20 years before serving as an administrator at the University of Zimbabwe in the Faculty of Law and the university’s Medical School from 1991 to 2013. He was a passionate Liverpool and Dynamos “Dembare” football clubs fan, an avid reader and enjoyed completing crossword puzzles as well as watching nature shows and the Smithsonian channel. He had a wealth of wisdom and was always eager to lend a listening ear or an encouraging word regardless of what he was going through. He will be sorely missed.

Memorial services for Williamson will be held at 2:00 P.M., August 3rd, 2019 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Pastor Jerry Stravia IV officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Williamson’s remains will be repatriated to Zimbabwe where he will be laid to rest at his communal homestead in Headlands.
