Michael “Mike” J. Perdew, 59, Irving, Texas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 24, 2020 in Dickinson. There will be no services for Mike at this time.
Michael John Perdew was born August 13, 1961 to Master Sergeant George G. Perdew and LaVonne M. Vetter, at Fort Lee, Va. Growing up as an Army brat, Mike lived in many states and countries prior to settling in Mandan, N.D., after his father’s death in 1976. Mike graduated from Mandan High School in 1979.
He worked various jobs in the area until moving to Irving, Texas in 1995, where he began a lifelong career at Waffle House. The co-workers and customers, became his family until he left in August 2020 due to his health. After being diagnosed with cancer, Mike enjoyed spending his last few months in Dickinson at his sister’s house with the three dogs who became his best pals. He loved watching football-”Go Detroit Lions”, basketball, true crime stories and spent hours doing word search puzzles.
Michael was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Leona Perdew, and John Vetter; father, George in 1976; mother, LaVonne in 1981; sister, Margaret in 2015; and brother, David in 1990.
Mike is survived by his daughter, Destiney LaVonne, who he had hopes of a reunion with; grandmother, Maggie Vetter, Bismarck; sister, Kathy Himmelspach, Dickinson; niece Leah (Ryan) Weidner and great-nephews, Nolan and Rohby, Dickinson; nephew, Jason (Emily) Himmelspach, Mandan; nephew, Nicholas Himmelspach, Dickinson; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and his extended Waffle House family.
