Betty Jean Kordonowy, 87, Dickinson, died on Tuesday, February 6, 2024 surrounded by her family at CountryHouse Residence, Dickinson. There will be a Gathering of Family & Friends from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., Friday, February 9, 2024 at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with Prayers of Blessing at 4:30 p.m. with Elder Judd Winter as officiant.
Betty was born on December 21, 1936 in “Old Sanish,” North Dakota to Alvin and Evelyn (Boots) Danielson and grew up on the family farm in Charlson, North Dakota. Betty received her education at Charlson Primary School and later attended Watford City High School. She valued the importance of education and encouraged others to pursue their academic goals.
Betty also known as Betty Jean, was a loving and caring, mother, wife, and person. Growing up, she had a deep love for family gatherings, where singing and playing songs together was a regular occurrence. Her infectious smile will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Betty had a passion for cooking and took great joy in preparing delicious meals for her loved ones. She also had a green thumb and cherished her plants, as well as her beloved pets. Betty’s warm and compassionate nature touched lives of those around her.
Betty was a member of the Jehovah Witness community, where she found solace and support.
Betty is survived by her husband, William Kordonowy; her sons, Allen Hickel, Randal (Cathy) Hickel, Daryl (Lois) Hickel, and Bradley (Laurie) Kordonowy; son-in-law, Robert Evjen; daughter-in-law, Kayla Meyer; brother, Arvin (Kathie) Danielson; brother-in-law, Ken Listoe; extended family, Nadine Liuska, Karen (Tom) Dvorak, Gerald (Jill) Kordonowy, Pauline (Art) Kathe, Dr. Raymond (Margaret) Kordonowy, and Jonathan Kordonowy; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and beloved pup, Buffy.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Baby Hickel; daughter, Cheryl Hickel Evjen; son, Darin Hickel; son-in-law, Glen Liuska; and sister, Alva Listoe.
