Chad W. Obrigewitch, 64, Belfield, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at CHI St. Alexius Dickinson with family by his side. Chad’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday, September 23, 2026 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with Fr. David Richter as celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., on Tuesday at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belfield with a Rosary and Vigil at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the Mass at the church on Wednesday.
Chad Wayne Obrigewitch was born July 11, 1962 at Dickinson, the son of Patrick and Elizabeth (Froehlich) Obrigewitch, Sr. He was raised on the family farm north of Belfield where he attended St. Bernard’s Catholic School through the 8th grade, and then graduated from Belfield High School in 1980. While in high school he excelled in football having been named to the Badlands All Conference Team.
He went to work for Pool Well Service for a few years before returning to the family farm to farm and ranch with his dad. He took over his dad’s hay grinding business and he helped the family custom harvest for a few years. Later, Chad joined his dad and brothers in the P&D Trucking partnership. His dad retired from farming, and then Chad, his brother Dan and his son, Riley farmed together until retiring in January 2026.
Chad was united in marriage to Kimberly Ann Kadrmas on February 9, 1996 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. To this union they were blessed with two children, Riley and Jenna. The family lived in Belfield for five years before making their home at the farm. Chad was a leader and protector in whatever he was involved in, and cherished his faith having prayed the rosary daily.
He belonged to the KC Council 6310, and was devoted to serving weekly Adoration Hour. The family was named Family of the Year at St. Bernard’s multiple times. He also gave back to his community by serving on the Billings County Fire Department. He loved being a farmer and in his spare time enjoyed snowmobiling, skiing, four wheeling, camping, football, hunting, family time especially with the grandkids. He will be remembered as Captain Chad of the Pontoon, playing cards, little road trips with Kim, and supporting the kids with all their activities, never missing an event.
Chad is survived by his wife, Kim; their children, Riley (Jennifer) Obrigewitch, rural Belfield, and Jenna (Jonathan) Redmond, Fairfield; grandchildren, Carter, Rhett, Jacob and Chloe Obrigewitch; his parents, Pat and Betty Obrigewitch, Sr., Belfield; siblings, Pat (Shelley) Obrigewitch, Jr., Dickinson, Janel Wolf, Belfield, Janey (Jim) Grosulak, Kemmerer, WY, Stacy (Bill) Shypkoski, South Heart, and Dan (Kelly) Obrigewitch, Belfield; mother-in-law, Joanne Kadrmas, Belfield; brother-in-law, Wade (Marney) Kadrmas, Bismarck; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Larry Kadrmas; brother-in-law, David Wolf; grandparents; numerous aunts and uncles; and baby Redmond.
