DeLane Woehl, 90, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 at home, surrounded by family. DeLane’s funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Monday, June 8, 2026 at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Mary Wiggins as officiant. Interment will follow at Dickinson Cemetery. Visitation will be on Sunday from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 5 p.m. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.
DeLane was born January 1, 1936 in Zeeland, N.D. the son of Gottfried and Edna (Boschee) Woehl. He was raised and educated in Wishek, N.D. through the eighth grade.
DeLane was united in marriage to Luella May Heinle, July 1, 1956, and to this union five children were born, Renee, Vicki, Gerard (Jerry), Bobbi and Ricky. Following the death of Luella in 1969, DeLane married Alice (Haugen) Schmidt, July 24, 1971. Alice brought three children into the family, Mark, Doug and Missy and her niece, Gwen Haugen. During the marriage of DeLane and Alice, they had two children, Brian and Kristin. DeLane and his family resided on a location most known as “The Hill”.
DeLane was employed by Haggert Construction prior to becoming a 40-year member of the Teamsters Union. As a member of the Union, DeLane worked for Century/Mercury Freight as terminal manager until his retirement in 1994. During his employment he achieved the “National Safety Council 2 Million-Mile Accident-Free Award”. Following his retirement from Century/Mercury he worked for Fisher Industries as maintenance foreman until 2004.
DeLane was a lifetime member of the Eagles Club and a past member of the Elks Club. In his spare time, he very much enjoyed fishing, boating and camping. DeLane utilized his many talents as “a Jack of all trades” to build and/or remodel many of the homes their family resided in. One of DeLane’s favorite pastimes was to butcher and make sausage for family, Eagle’s Club Benefits and others.
DeLane is survived by his children, Renee Woehl (friend Steve), Bismarck, Vicki (Randy) Roller, Bismarck, Mark Schmidt, Dickinson, Jerry (Nancy) Woehl, Dickinson, Doug (Tami) Schmidt, Dickinson, Bobbi (Mike) Kostelecky, Grand Junction, CO, Missy (J.T.) Kuntz, Chattaroy, WA, Rick Woehl, Dickinson, Brian (Barb) Woehl, Dickinson, Kristin (Russ) Schmidt, Dickinson; 22 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; siblings Dianna Veil, Rapid City, S.D., and James (Sue) Woehl, Jamestown, N.D.; numerous nieces and nephews, and his special lady, Helen Flaaen.
He was preceded in death by his wives, Luella Woehl, September 16, 1969 and Alice Woehl, November 10, 2019; his parents, Gottfried and Edna Woehl; siblings Evangeline Ketterling Spitzer, Mylo Woehl, and Eileen Yenney.
