Dorothy Dworshak, 80, Dickinson, died on Saturday, May 6, 2023 at her home. Dorothy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Friday, May 12, 2023 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson with Fr. Robert Shea as celebrant. Interment will take place at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday at Ladbury Funeral Service, Dickinson with a rosary and vigil at 7 p.m. with Deacon Bob Stockert presiding.
Dorothy T. Sand was born on October 8, 1942 in Stark County, the daughter of Wendel and Theresa (Holz) Sand. She was raised on the farm near Hirschville.
Dorothy was united in marriage to James Dworshak on August 25, 1964 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, Dickinson and to this union two children were born, Jerald and Janice.
Dorothy was a daycare provider for many years. She had a strong bond with family and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. She liked reading, doing word searches, embroidering, taking care of her house plants and gardening.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, James; son, Jerald (Angie) Dworshak, Moorhead, MN; daughter, Janice (Wes) Andres, Dickinson; five grandchildren, Brady Andres, Jayson Andres, Nathan Dworshak, Melissa Dworshak, and Natalie Dworshak; brothers, Leo (Diane) Sand and Raymond (Helen) Sand; brother-in-law, Donald Dworshak; sisters-in-law, Roberta, Leona, Eleanor, June and Barbara Sand; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her grandson, Matthew; her parents; brothers, Herman, Tony, Lester, Joe, Wendel, Edward, Richard, Walter, Gene, and Kenneth; sister, Rose Pflepsen; sisters-in-law, Viola, Stella, Julie, and Susan Sand; and several nieces and nephews.
