Dorothy Kessel, 82, Dickinson, died Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at her home. Dorothy’s Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 17, 2012 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Dickinson, with Fr. Todd Kreitinger as the celebrant. Interment will follow at St. Bernard’s Cemetery, Belfield. Visitation will be on Wednesday, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, with a rosary & vigil at 7 p.m., with Deacon Ron Keller presiding.

Dorothy Rosendahl was born June 19, 1929 in Dickinson, the daughter of C.P. and Dorothy (Johnston) Rosendahl. She was raised and educated in Dickinson, graduating from Dickinson High School in 1946. She went on to attend business college. Dorothy went to work for the National Foundation for Infantile Paralysis from 1949 to 1955, where she served as the state office secretary of North Dakota and southern Minnesota. She returned to Dickinson in 1955 and went to work for Francis Reichert Law Firm until 1959.

Dorothy married Alois G. Kessel on November 5, 1959 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church.

Dorothy is survived by her eight children, Donald (Julie) Kessel, Humble, Texas, Nancy Kessel, Salt Lake City, Utah, Linda (Ted) Eskridge, Haysville, Kan., Rex (Virginia) Kessel, Killeen, Texas, Dean Kessel, Bismarck, Beverly (Daniel) Lewtschuk, Meridian, Idaho, Barbara (Bryan McGee) Kessel, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Clara Kessel, Dickinson; one other son-in-law, Rod Dolyniuk; seven grandchildren, Chandler Kessel, Carter Kessel, Crystal (Paul Rehmet) Dolyniuk, Courtney (Brian) Ferguson, Orion Kessel, Alexander Lewtschuk, and Abrianna McGee; and three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Jessica and Andrew Rehmet. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alois on March 27, 2008; daughter, Dokia; grandson, James Dolyniuk; and her brother, Bill Rosendahl. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made to Heartland Hospice.
