Chris Carlson, 41, Dickinson, died Sunday, May 13, 2012 at his home in Dickinson. Funeral services for Chris will be at 12 p.m., Friday, May 18, 2012 at St. John Evan. Lutheran Church, Dickinson, with Rev. Cal Oraw officiating. Interment will follow at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Dickinson. Visitation will be on Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Ladbury Funeral Service, and will continue on Friday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., at the church.

Chris Carlson was born on September 19, 1970 in Dickinson, the son of Jack and Kathie (Osborn) Carlson. He graduated from Dickinson High School in 1989. Chris was a standout football, basketball, track & field, and baseball player and received many awards and accolades. After accepting a football scholarship to continue his education at North Dakota State University, he graduated in 1993 with a degree in Business Administration. Chris continued his success with many accomplishments professionally in the banking, financial and oil industries.

Chris married Gail Torgerson of Dickinson, on March 14, 1996. They spent time living in Fergus Falls and Elk River, Minn., followed by time in Fargo and Bismarck before he most recently lived and worked in Dickinson. Chris accomplished much in his short life, and although he struggled later in his life, he never stopped trying to be the best person he could possibly be for his family. Chris was and will always be very loved by his close friends and family. Of all Chris’ accomplishments, he would without a doubt, tell you he was most proud of his amazing and loving children, McKenzie (age 14) and Lauren (age 10).

Chris was a wonderful father, son, brother and uncle. He will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Chris is survived by his daughters, McKenzie Carlson and Lauren Carlson; his mother, Kathie Carlson; his brothers, Kyle (Karmen) Carlson, Devin (LaDella) Carlson, and Casey (Kristi) Carlson; and his nieces and nephews, Katelyn Carlson, Jack Carlson, Bennett Carlson, Brynlee Carlson and Annika Carlson. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Carlson.
